kennethreitz / OSX GCC Installer →
Downloading and installing the massive Xcode installer is a huge hassle if you just want
GCC and related tools.
The osx-gcc-installer allows you to install the essential compilers from either pre-built
binary packages or helps you create your own installer.
Upgraded to Lion yesterday, typed make, it doesn’t exist. Installed this, problem solved.

Bryan: I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for a ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.
Marko: … Good luck.

3 Albums for 2011
We’re New Here by Jamie xx & Gil-Scott Heron
Don’t get me wrong I’m New Here was great, but this took it to a whole new level. It single handedly (almost) laid the ground work for the rest of the year’s electronic releases.
Black Up by Shabazz Palaces
A hip-hop album which sounded nothing like it’s peers, after the infiltration of “club” beats...
They say if Europe goes ahead with it’s solution then Britain will be left...
– Ian Hislop on last week’s Have I Got News For You
Black Up by Shabazz Palaces has got to be the album of 2011. I don’t think there’s enough time left to better it. They brought a totally different vision to hip hop.
Bradley Wright: Using Dropbox as a Git repository →
So last month I wrote a bit about setting up your own personal Git repositories on a Linux box, and how to use that for sharing code.
I’ve had a slight epiphany since then: what if I just used the awesome Dropbox (my referral link, if you’re likely to sign up) to share Git repositories…
This is great for when you’re working with someone who doesn’t want to sign up for an...

Testing multiple rubies with rbenv
A solution I’ve created based on issue #69, for a rake task which runs rake with each version of ruby installed with rbenv. gist
desc 'Run tests on for all versions of ruby'
task :test_all do
`rbenv versions --bare`.split("\n").each do |vers|
run_for vers, ['bundle install', 'bundle exec rake']
end
end
def run_for(vers, commands)
system "RBENV_VERSION='#{vers}' sh -c...

The Problem With Coursework
Coursework is a magical piece of work, usually in the form of a project for a course, for example Computing (as I’m doing at the moment). It usually (and does in my case) contain a massive written portion. This is usually done over the period of a term (or two).
The problem is that as you get closer to the deadline; and of course the realisation that you are not finished yet, you feel the...
Mobi Grumbles - End Of Line [Original Tron Re-score]
This is amazing, an original re-score of Tron. The album is just perfect as well and should be downloaded immediately. Totally captures the feeling of the film.
